Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take medical insurance?

No. At this time, our practice is self-pay only, and we are not panelled with any insurance companies. We can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance upon request.

Where will my sessions take place?

At this time, our practice is a fully virtual practice. The only in-person services available are for our intensive couples therapy retreat-style programs.

What will happen during our consultation call?

Our consultation call occur via telephone call (not video), and last about 15-30 minutes. During this consultation call, we will discuss the services your are looking for, discuss what you are looking to get out of therapy, and discuss any questions you may have. Michele will also provide you with general information regarding the structure of therapy sessions and general practice policy information. The consultation call is a great opportunity to begin building the foundation of the therapeutic relationship, and to explore for goodness-of-fit between you and your potential therapist. We are looking forward to hearing from you and working with you!

Can you provide therapy to my minor child/adolescent? Do you have experience with children and teens?

Yes! I can provide therapy to your minor child/adolescent if they are ages 12+. Paperwork to obtain consent for the treatment of a minor(s) will be completed during the first session. Additionally, in cases of shared custody or single-parenthood, consent is only legally required from one parent/guardian. Michele has training and experience with play therapy as well as talk-therapy with adolescents, including experience providing therapeutic services in a juvenile justice setting.

Do I have to live in Florida to receive services through Aurora Family Therapy, LLC?

YES. You must be a Florida resident, and be located in Florida for any and all therapy sessions that are completed. This is a requirement by Florida statutes.

How much do your services cost?

You can check out the Services tab above for information about the services we provide and how much they cost.

Can I include my partner/spouse/other family members during my individual sessions?

Your desire to include additional family members in your individual sessions can be discussed with your therapist. Typically, a family member can be included for a session here and there, but not on a consistent basis. Individual therapy is your space, but sessions will be approached through a relational lens with room for some inclusion of outside perspectives.

If you are my individual therapist, can you see my partner/spouse and I for couples sessions simultaneously?

No. According to the Florida MFT licensing board, your therapist is not allowed to engage in any duel relationships with you. This includes being your individual therapist as well as your couple;s therapist. Your therapist will provide you with referrals for couples therapists upon your request.

What happens if I cancel or miss a session?

All clients are able to cancel a scheduled session up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled session day/time. If a session is cancelled within 24 hours, a late fee of the full session fee will be charged to your account. Typically, first time late cancellations are excused, we just ask that it does not become a frequent occurrence as the time you schedule is specifically reserved for you and unable to be filled by someone else last-minute.
